Fifteen minutes to pick my brain about whatever topic you like. Absolutely free.

Perhaps you saw one of my talks or read one of my books, articles, or posts. Maybe someone recommended me to you. Either way, if you want to run a few things by me gratis, you’re in luck: I’m offering a limited number of free 15-minute live consultations about whatever topic you like. To paraphrase Jerry Maguire, help me help you.

FAQ

Why are you doing this?
All kidding aside, here is my blog post explaining my rationale.

Which subjects are fair game?
Based on my background and in no particular order, I feel very comfortable dispensing advice on these topics: effective writing and speaking, platforms, business models and strategies, publishing, productivity, system selection, project management, data visualization, Big Data, trends, management, small business, communication, IT projects, social media, and web design. If those don’t strike your fancy, pick a different business-, data- or tech-related subject.
What won't you cover?
Plenty of things. I’m not one for wasting time.

I’m a big believer in Dirty Harry’s quote about limitations. If you want to discuss a subject about which I don’t know very much, I’ll tell you in advance. Sure, I’m a knowledgeable guy, but I’m certainly not qualified to proffer advice on everything.

Is there any cost?
No.
Are you going to give me the hard sell on your services and books?

Not at all. This is no sales pitch. I aim to offer valuable insight, ask some penetrating questions, and solve a problem or two—at least as much as our brief time will realistically allow.

Is there any further obligation after the call?
No, but if you like what you’ve heard, then you may decide to work with me afterward.
Will you sign an NDA before our chat?

No, I will not. I save those for my proper clients. That’s not to say, though, that I don’t respect your privacy. I do. I’m not about to tweet that I’m going to be speaking with you.

Are there any other restrictions and rules?
Yes, two. First, the 15-minute cap is strict. Second, each person/organization is limited to one session. Otherwise, people might take advantage.
Can college and grad students participate?
It depends. I enjoy corrupting the youth, but I’m not about to do other people’s homework for them. That’s why Wikipedia was invented.
Can I record the call?
No, that is something reserved for my proper clients.
What happens after I fill out the form?
Regardless of whether or not it’s a fit, I’ll be in touch. If the answer is yes, then I’ll send a link to my schedule with some available times. Then we’ll chat. If the answer is no, then I’ll explain why.
Can we talk about Breaking Bad, Marillion, Better Call Saul, or Rush?

Twist my arm. Sure.
