In a recent [*BusinessWeek*](https://www.businessweek.com/articles/2012-04-05/thorsten-heins-into-rims-ring-of-fire?ref=philsimon.com) article, Thorsten Heins, the 54-year-old chief executive officer of Research In Motion ([RIMM](https://investing.businessweek.com/research/stocks/snapshot/snapshot.asp?ticker=RIMM&ref=philsimon.com)) talks about his plans for the company. From the piece:

Heins says it will redefine mobile multitasking, enamor RIM to the app-developer community, and arm the company with a “future-proof” platform.

He must be shrooming.

Let me state the obvious: There is no such thing as a *future-proof platform*. Even if there were, do you think that RIM is the company to build it?
