I’m a bit paranoid about identity theft. Although I’ve been spared, make no mistake: it happens more far often than we think. As such, I’m a Lifelock customer (affiliate link) and have been for years.
The company puts its money where its mouth is. It offers a $1 million guarantee if a customer becomes a victim of identity theft while s/he is a LifeLock member. Lifelock will spend up to $1 million to hire experts, lawyers, investigators, consultants, and whomever else it takes to help your recovery.
Is it cheap? No. I pay $350/year for the service. But if thinks break bad, that amount of money is inconsequential compared to the time and effort I’d spend correcting my credit history and public records.
