Go to a YouTube video. Any one. See anything familiar?

When you see an assortment of icons at the bottom of YouTube videos (before Google+, even), it strikes me that one of two things is happening:

  • Google realizes that it can't stop others from using other platforms (a tacit admission that Plus isn't the be-all and end-all).
  • Google can still make money on content discovered on other platforms.

Simon Says

The lesson here: Embrace other platforms. Even promote them. It's rarely only about your platform.
