Simon Workplace Tech Assessment ๐Ÿ†•

A deep look into how your team, department, or organization uses its current toolsโ€”and what it can do better.

Effective Workplace Collaboration: The Illusive Beast

Over the course of my three-decade career, I've worked on more than one hundred technology consulting engagements in just about every industry. Many of my assignments have served as case studies in my books.

To be sure, my clients' specific challenges and needs have run the gamut. Typically, though, one particularly thorny issue has routinely plagued them: workplace collaboration. Rare is the team, department, or organization that has consistently nailed it. The older the organization and the more employees, the bigger the mess tends to be. At the other end of the spectrum, plenty of nimble startups operate in a state of perpetual chaos.

Pooh-pooh the collaboration issue if you like, but its effects can be devastating:

  • Runaway expenses based on duplicate systems.
  • Multiple versions of the truth resulting in errant or suboptimal business decisions.
  • Manual processes that waste time and money.
  • A profound lack of institutional knowledge.
  • Legacy systems that remain active for years longer than they should.
  • Crises stemming from key employees departing the organization.
  • Employees burden HR and IT folks by open superfluous tickets. The former simply cannot find the answers they required.

I could go on, but you get my point.

My 30-Second Pitch

The Simon Workplace Tech Assessment analyzes the state of your workplace collaboration and offers specific recommendations. As a general rule, each SWTA runs about 600 words.

Target Audience

My focus is clear: I'm only interested in helping the people who will truly benefit from the insights SWTA provides. If you've ever wondered how employees at your organization can use technology to collaborate better, the SWTA hits the spot. Your bespoke report will list the specific issues and opportunities inside your team, department, or organization.

To state the obvious, respondents with email addresses like ๐šœ๐šŽ๐šก๐š™๐šŠ๐š—๐š๐š‘๐šŽ๐š›@๐š–๐šข๐šœ๐š™๐šŠ๐šŒ๐šŽ.๐š—๐šŽ๐š and no LinkedIn profiles clearly aren't serious.

Finally, I'll disqualify those self-described unicorns. I'm talking about those who fervently claim that no tech, communication, or collaboration issues exist, have existed, or will ever exist at their employers. For all I know, these folks may in fact be spot-on. If that's the case, then the SWTA won't benefit them.

How It Works

Complete the SWTA in about fifteen minutes. I then review your submission for legitimacy and fit. If all is simpatico, then I'll send you your bespoke report within a few days.

What It Costs

The assessment itself is free. If you want to discuss the results afterward, I charge $350 (USD) for a one-hour session recorded over Zoom.

FAQ

Some more information on what to expect.

Basics, Participation, and Eligibility

What provides the basis for SWTA?

More than 30 years of experience helping organizations implement new systems and overcome internal collaboration issues. Three of my recent books underpin the assessment's recommendations:

  1. Reimagining Collaboration: Slack, Microsoft Teams, Zoom, and the Post-COVID World of Work.
  2. Project Management in the Hybrid Workplace.
  3. Low-Code/No-Code: Citizen Developers and the Surprising Future of Business Applications.

I filled out the assessment. When can I expect to see the results?

I'll email you within one business day or two telling you if you're eligible. Even if you ultimatley don't make the cut (at this time), I won't leave you hanging. No ghosting here.

Is there any overlap between the SWTA and SWOT analysis?

No, just a coincidence. Think Office Space.

When will the SWTA come out of beta?

At this point, October 2026.

Is a longer, more comprehensive version of the SWTA coming?

Perhaps, depending on how the rollout of the first version goes.

Will the SWTA and a one-hour consult cure all of my organization's collaboration and workplace tech ills?

No, and I will never claim otherwise. I've seen plenty of dysfunctional situations over my career. Based on early feedback, however, the SWTA results are useful in identifying issues and resolving them.

Think of it as a useful initial diagnostic, not a comprehensive list of all that ails your organization.

The Optional, Paid Follow-up Call

For when you want to take the next step.

How do I book the one-hour consultation?

Via the scheduling link I'll share with you.

How can I pay for the one-hour consult?

Right now, only via PayPal. As of August 8, 2026, I'm still sorting out an issue with Stripe integration.

Can my team participate in it?

Yes, but I'm capping the maximum attendance at four participants, including myself.

I run a large organization. Can I take the survey once for each of my teams?

Unfortunately, no double-dipping allowed.

Can my team and I engage you afterwards?

Yes, if there's a good fit.

Privacy

Do you share the information you collect with others?

Nope.

Will you use my results to refine future SWTA versions?

Yes, but only with anonymized data.

Can I really take the assessment and never hear from you again?

Yes. I'm allergic to spam. You won't suddenly find yourself subscribed to the Simon Says Newsletter.
