I wander about our technology-laden world and talk to business owners of all types. Some people get it but most do not. I hear questions like:

  • How can I guarantee that my website make money for my business?
  • What’s the exact ROI of Facebook or Twitter, anyway?
  • How can we be sure that that a new service or product will be successful?

These are precisely the wrong questions to ask.

Simon Says

Throw caution into the wind? Not really, but stop looking for certainty in the Age of the Platform. It doesn’t exist. For every business that launches a Facebook fan page and sees immediate results, many more do not.

Embrace intelligent risk and uncertainty. It’s here to stay.
